Edinburgh, Until the Light Went Out

We might not have thought this through completely: it’s not a great idea to put on a show during the Edinburgh Festival and far away from the festival area, even if that area is a gorgeous beach resort. However, the head organiser of the trip Michael Clift and one of our guest stars Dan Cohen headed there a day early and did some intense advertising, thanks to which the Tide Art Gallery was filled with a comfortable-sized and wonderfully appreciative audience for the Until the Light Goes Out Edinburgh Special. In addition to our London-exported poets Dan Cohen and Mike Galsworthy, we heard brilliant music performances from the Edinburgh-based Ed Ritchie (aka Dog On A Swing) and Elyssa Vulpes.

After the show we headed for the Portobello beach for a bonfire and beach party. We were quite worried that a stereotypical Scottish weather might get in the way, but Saturday night was perfectly clear and beautiful.
